Invisalign
What’s Invisalign?
Invisalign is a state-of-the-art orthodontic option that uses clear aligner trays to apply pressure to crooked and misaligned teeth. The treatment is effective, safe and normally takes less time to complete than traditional braces. Because the aligner trays are thin and clear in nature, you won’t need to worry that you’re wearing metal brackets or wiring. Invisalign is ideal for older teen patients and adults looking for a less obvious method of correcting orthodontic problems.
Why might Invisalign be needed?
Invisalign is recommended for patients who have crooked, crowded and misaligned teeth. The procedure can help with malocclusion problems as well, though additional orthodontic treatment may be required. Invisalign is easy to wear and must be worn for no less than 22 hours each day. The aligners apply pressure to the teeth, pushing them into a more aligned and uniform appearance.
What makes you a good candidate for Invisalign?
Because Invisalign has to be worn for 22 hours a day and is removable, it’s recommended for teens and adults who are able to keep the aligners in. If the aligners aren’t worn properly or are removed too often, it can prolong treatment. Most patients who are unhappy with their teeth being crooked or crowded are eligible for Invisalign treatment and will find it to be beneficial for their orthodontic needs. Our goal here at J&A Dental is to provide comprehensive treatment that is both planned and monitored.

What can be expected during treatment using Invisalign?
The treatment using Invisalign begins with a consultation and exam. Impressions, or molds, are used to create custom made Invisalign trays to begin the treatment process. You will be instructed how and when to wear the trays. It is important that you remove your Invisalign trays to brush and floss your teeth. You will need to come in every few weeks to have new trays made for you as treatment progresses. Most patients begin to notice a significant change in the appearance of their smile in just a few months.
