Implant-Supported Dentures
What are Implant-Supported Dentures?
Dentures help to replace missing teeth and enhance the look of your smile and facial structure. Unfortunately, ill-fitting dentures may slip or fall out during the day. You may be tired of adhesive strips, gels and creams that promise to keep the prosthetic in place. Implant-supported dentures use permanent implants to securely clip onto your appliance, keeping it in place all day long.
Why are Implant-Supported Dentures needed?
You may want an implant-supported denture if you have a prosthetic that falls out regularly. You may have gone for regular adjustments and are still dealing with an ill-fitting appliance. This allows the denture to look more natural and provides you with the ability to remove the appliance when you want. It is recommended that you still remove the appliance each night to clean it properly.
Implant-supported dentures use permanent implants to securely clip onto your appliance, keeping it in place all day long.
What makes you a good candidate for Implant-Supported Dentures?
Implants require oral surgery to put into place. The implants rely on your body’s natural healing process to become secure enough to support your denture. Because of this, you need to be healthy enough to have oral surgery performed and have the ability to heal after the implants have been placed. It’s important that you come in regularly to have the implants checked while they are healing.
What can be expected with Implant-Supported Dentures?
You will first come into our office here at J&A Dental for a consultation appointment. We will examine your mouth and create a personalized treatment plan specific to your needs. You will then have multiple implants placed throughout the mouth to hold onto the denture to keep it in place. Over the course of about six months, the implants fuse naturally with your bone and will provide a secure anchor for the denture appliance. A special denture is then made for you that is designed to clip onto the implants for a secure, confident fit.
